Drowning in Deadlines

White, David. Time Crunch. August 20, 2024. Dave White Illustrations.

I feel as if I am drowning in
Deadlines
&
Promises.
My red eyes, raw and weary, never rest.

I am burdened by the weight of
Time
&
Commitment.
My determination is slipping from my grasp.

Does my youth excuse my mistakes?

Surrounded by voices whispering all day and night.
Telling me, I have never made them proud.
Suffocating in the silent, unspoken disappointment in their eyes.

It’s depressing, don’t you think?
These feelings of anger and hurt are astounding.
Washing over me in overwhelming relentless tides.
The pain locking me in with a paralyzing ache.

I feel as if though I am drowning in
Deadlines
&
Promises.
The work, endless, pulls me deeper.

I wander through the darkness,
Seeking, hoping – yet unsure what for.
Perhaps a moment of peace, or a glimpse of pride,
A reminder that midst this chaos, I’m alive

  • Yelling At Ghosts

“YELLING AT GHOSTS” is a haunting reflection on pain carried from the past—stones thrown, scars revealed, memories that drown. The poem wrestles with unseen tormentors, the echoes of betrayal, and the heavy presence of ghosts that linger. Yet within the despair lies the hope of reclaiming strength and silence.

  • The River Knows My Name

    The River Knows My Name

By the river’s edge, a woman mourns an unseen child, her voice breaking into mist and echoes. Through shadows, ravens, and restless water, her grief becomes clarity. The River Knows My Name is a gothic meditation on freedom, loss, and the haunting beauty of choices carried alone.

  • Bound by Time and Memory

David White’s Forgotten Soul and Kiana Jimenez’s poem intertwine in a meditation on eternal love, memory, and entrapment. Chains, locks, and flickering candles mirror verses of clocks and longing, creating a haunting narrative of two damned souls bound together beyond time’s reach, refusing to fade even as shadows close in.
