Lobster Tank

A short, funny, blue-lit moment in the seafood aisle — about eye contact, existential dread, and toaster waffles.

Those lobsters watched me too directly
through bubbling seafood prison walls.

One waved a claw dramatically
like demanding legal representation.

I suddenly felt emotionally responsible
for creatures I never planned to buy.

The tank glowed blue with strange sadness
between avocados and frozen peas.

Why do grocery stores casually display
underwater existential dread?

One lobster blinked with ancient wisdom
while I bought toaster waffles nearby.

And honestly? I avoid eye contact
with the seafood section now.

One waved a claw dramatically
like demanding legal representation.

    8:39PM

“8:39PM” unravels the silence of despair through haunting verses that echo betrayal, loss, and inner torment. With imagery of shadows, frozen nights, and broken vows, the poem embodies the raw voice of pain and truth, a dirge for a soul shackled by lies and desperate for release.

  • A World of Shadows and Silence

In Distant Planet and Darkness Descends, David White and Kiana Jimenez craft parallel visions of isolation and loss. The alien cliffs under a red sun mirror the poem’s suffocating night, both capturing the vast emptiness of worlds abandoned and the despair of hope extinguished, yet still lingering in shadow.

  • Letters That Never Return

Letters That Never Return” speaks to the ache of longing, unspoken words, and the silence that lingers when love remains unanswered. Paired with Dave White’s illustration Beach Dog, the poem reflects on memory, loss, and the fleeting nature of connection—like letters adrift, never finding their way back.
