Loving you felt like shoes on the wrong feet,

Every step is unsteady, an incomplete beat.

I could still move, but something felt wrong,

A rhythm off-key in a broken song.

Loving you felt like the wrong side of the bed,

Each morning heavy, a fog in my head.

The sun would rise, but I couldn’t see,

The weight of frustration consuming me.

Loving you felt like living alone,

Sharing space, yet my heart turned to stone.

Hours of silence, a ghost by my side,

Your presence forgotten; my loneliness amplified.

Loving you felt like pouring too deep,

Draining my soul, no strength left to keep.

I gave you my all, down to the last drop,

Yet the cup stayed empty, and I couldn’t stop.

Loving you felt like gasping for air

Anxiety gripping, a breathless despair.

My lungs collapsed under love’s cruel sting,

An endless fall without a wing.

Loving you felt like signing my death,

I’d give my last heartbeat, my final breath.

Like Juliet longing for Romeo’s embrace,

I would have died to be loved in your space

Issue #2 of the Poetic Bipolar Mind Substack, “What the Night Keeps,” was written for the ones who can’t — the minds that won’t rest, counting the hours like old wounds while the house sleeps. It pairs a short reflection on belonging to the night with a poem written…

Where It All Began: “Where Darkness Learns to Speak” — Substack Issue #1

Before the books, before the website, there was a blog called Temperamental Mental Soup — anonymous, because she wasn’t ready to be seen yet. Issue #1 of the Poetic Bipolar Mind Substack, “Where Darkness Learns to Speak,” is where Kiana Jimenez tells that story out loud: how a hidden blog became Poetic Bipolar Mind, and…

Where the Podcast Began: “A Raft to Drift Upon” — Episode 1

Every podcast starts somewhere. The Poetic Bipolar Mind podcast started with a raft. Episode 1, “A Raft to Drift Upon,” is Kiana Jimenez’s spoken-word poem about the thing that keeps us afloat when the storm rages on — a shelter through the thunder’s might, a beacon glowing in the night, the thread that ties the…
