New Episode: “Pressure System” — The Things We Bury Grow Teeth

Spoken word poetry by Kiana Jimenez.

“Pressure System” is Episode 5 of the Poetic Bipolar Mind podcast — a poem about everything we bury, and what it costs to keep it buried.

You button every feeling beneath your skin,
Convincing yourself that composure will win;
You polish your armor and call yourself strong,
While everything buried keeps learning your wrong.

Your soul becomes fluent in swallowing sound,
A house where the windows are nailed to the ground;
Each feeling denied leaves a knock in the wall,
Then learns, when unanswered, to hammer and call.

Soon anger keeps company with unspent grief,
And tears start demanding their overdue relief;
The pressure grows teeth, starts devouring the seams,
Then ruptures the silence you stitched through your dreams.

So loosen the armor; let something get through,
There’s courage in feeling what frightens you too;
For truth kept imprisoned grows cruel in its cell—
You cannot stay whole while pretending you’re well.

  • My Door’s Key

    “My Door’s Key” opens the locked door to depression’s hidden battles. With raw honesty and vivid imagery, it reveals the weight of mental illness, the silence behind the smile, and the courage it takes to seek healing. A poem of pain, vulnerability, and the hope for connection.

  • Courted By Eternity

    Emily Dickinson transforms Death into a gothic gentleman suitor in “Because I could not stop for Death.” This haunting vision of mortality as civility and courtship resonates with the mission of Poetic Bipolar Mind: to find tenderness within terror, beauty within darkness, and meaning in life’s inevitable shadows.

  • Vibrance Against the Weight of Numbness

    Vibrance Against the Weight of Numbness

    David White’s Sea Creatures and Kiana Jimenez’s A World in Gray intertwine in a haunting contrast of vibrance and numbness. The lively ocean world collides with the poem’s grayscale despair, showing how depression can make even the most vibrant spaces feel isolating, adrift, and suffocating.
