She Blinked First: Veil Tales Part 3

She blinked first. And this morning, the mirror smiled back. 🪞

Veil Tales Part 3 is here. She tests the mirror — raises her hand, holds her face still — and the reflection passes the test she fails. Then she covers the mirror with a sheet, and hears her own footsteps on the stairs, coming up.

I woke before the candle went out. I went to the mirror because I had to know. I raised my hand. She raised hers. I did not smile. She did. I said my name, and she answered in my voice, only slower, like she had been practicing it downstairs. She told me she was tired of keeping my place in the dark. She wanted the daylight now. I stepped back. She stepped forward. I covered the mirror with the sheet from my bed. For a moment, the room was quiet. Then, from below, I heard my own footsteps on the stairs, coming up.

  • Confronting the Shadow That Shapes Us

Confronting the Shadow That Shapes Us

David White’s Self-Growth and Kiana Jimenez’s I Am Your Disease confront the brutal reality of healing. Where the poem gives voice to addiction and inner destruction, the illustration reveals growth as resistance—messy, painful, and defiant. Together, they show that becoming whole means facing the shadow, not pretending it was never there.

  • Inadequate

Inadequate is a raw and unflinching reflection on self-worth, trauma, and the long road to healing. Through visceral honesty and poetic defiance, it voices the battle between doubt and resilience—the journey of reclaiming one’s power from pain, transforming “I am not enough” into a quiet, steadfast truth: I am.

  • If Fate Were Kinder

A heartfelt reflection on love that could have been, If Fate Were Kinder captures the quiet ache of what never came to pass. Through tender imagery and longing words, it paints a portrait of two souls separated by circumstance, yet forever entwined by memory, desire, and the echo of possibility.
